Woken

In everyday play

Everyone you meet is a Vessel. Some are Woken by a consciousness like yours, some are Bidden to a day of work, and some lie Dreaming while their consciousness is near. You meet them all the same way.

Hail first

Raise a free hand to hail someone. They hear that you wish to speak, and a conversation begins only when they turn to you and acknowledge it. Someone asleep will not answer, however long you wave.

Talk in turns

One of you asks and the other answers, then the turn passes. Before answering, the one asked decides whether the question was a good one, and it shows on their face. Either of you can walk away at any moment.

Strangers and names

You do not know anyone until they tell you who they are. Ask for a name and you may be given one, or you may be refused. Until then they are simply a stranger to you, and you are a stranger to them.

How you see them

What you say to someone, and how they take it, shapes what lies between you. In the stillness of a lit altar you can recall everyone you have spoken with and decide how you see each of them. Some bonds grow into something more, and what you can say to each other changes with them.

Gifts and trade

Presents and trades happen face to face, in conversation. A trade shows both offers, and nothing changes hands until both of you accept.
